DANIELA ROMACKER Born in Mannheim, Germany - a city boasting great music traditions - to musician parents, Daniela Romacker has rediscovered the existence of a universal language which translates into a emotional, primal sound. She started to study the violin at 5 years of age and achieved considerable success at a very young age in competitions for young musicians. She won the 1st prize in the well-known W. A. Mozart competition for young German students and went on to win the Jugend musiziert competition. After graduating from the University of Mannheim, she continued to perfect her technique and knowledge at the prestigious Mannes School of Music in New York. In 2002 she won another important award in France - 1st prize at the 10th Torneo Internazionale di Musica. During the concerts she has held all over the world, the artist moves from the sounds of Asia and the Middle East to those of nomad populations, from India to Egypt, from Nubia to Sindh. My violin - explained the violinist - was made for me in 1994 by Cavaceppi. Since I started playing this rather singular violin, it has allowed me to discover new musical colours and depths which have been my inspiration when choosing these types of compositions. The tunes come from all over, from Russia, other East-European countries, Spain and France. Together with Mario Cavaceppi who is also a composer and orchestrator as well as a pianist, Daniela Romacker has recorded a live CD - Méditation in which not even one note has been rerecorded in the recording studio. This is an extraordinary offering by a violinist who succeeds in getting inside your head and passing through your soul.
